David Game College is pleased to offer two new Music Technology short courses.
(Under 18) A level Music Technology Preparation / Music Production Introduction Week
18th - 24th August (10:00am - 3:45pm)

The program is open to anyone that is interested in producing their original material.
It is a beneficial step to students who are considering doing the Music Technology A- Level course. It is also a great way to kick start / develop your own production.
During the week we will cover all aspects of music production from using the studio to record live instruments and vocal to using the ‘Logic’ software to program sound and mix your composition.
What we will cover?
- Support students who are starting or attending the A level music technology course.
- Introduce students who are interested in producing music to the music production software.
- Deliver basic recording and mixing techniques suitable to both sets of participants.
- Creating a production from the idea stage to mixed composition.
The program:
Day one:
- Introduction to ‘Logic’ software.
- Setting up a project in ‘Logic’
- Using loops and ‘Virtual instruments’ to compose.
- Basic drum programming
Day two:
- Microphone types and how we use them.
- Recording different instruments (Guitar, bass, drums, Vocals) into ‘Logic’
- Practical task – recording basic tracks into the project you started on day one.
Day 3:
- Using effects to enhance the sound of recorded instruments.
- Recording vocals.
- Practical task – continue to develop the track you started to build on days one & two.
Day 4:
- Mixing essentials – Balance and Bland.
- Understanding and using EQ (Equalization)
- Using various mixing techniques: Track stacks, effect sends.
Day 5:
- Practical day – using all the stages we covered to complete your track.
- Presentation of tracks to the group, peer feedback and discussion.
- Planning ahead for your progress in production.
(Over 18) Music Production Introduction Course

The program is open to anyone that is interested in producing their original material. It will support people who would like to set up a podcast, to compose original music for their videos.
The sessions will be delivered as evening classes over a period of a week. The sessions will be tailored to the individual's level and interest.
During the sessions participants will be supported and encouraged to bring their own project to work on as well as learning the techniques.
Aims and objectives:
- Introduction to music production software.
- Deliver recording and mixing techniques for music and podcast.
- Creating a production from the idea stage to mixed composition.
