What Board do we do? The College has chosen the AQA A Level Music programme as it follows on seamlessly from the AQA GCSE Music course that we offer at David Game College. This A Level can be taken as an intensive one-year course, or a two-year course, depending on situation and ability.

On the A Level Music course you will:

· Attend workshops taught by professionals

· Receive one-to-one or small group tuition

· Be given opportunities to perform in and around David Game College

The AQA specifications and assessments have been designed to the highest standards, ensuring that it provides an accurate measure of the students’ academic and performance abilities.

Which subjects combine well with Music?
Art, Textiles, Music Technology and Psychology.

The A Level is split into three components:

1. Exam 40% - listening and written questions using excerpts of music

2. Music performance 35% - students must perform at least 10 minutes on their chosen instrument

3. Composition 25%

Students who study music lay the foundations for further musical study and/or career, and develop:

· Self-confidence

· Communication skills

· Creativity

· Critical analysis and evaluation skills

Students will need to be able to play an instrument, or sing, ideally at a Grade 6 standard or above. An audition/interview with the Head of Music may be required.
