Barbican Culture & Arts Centre

Fans of Brutalist architecture wax lyrical about the Barbican Culture and Arts Centre, and it’s not hard to see why – this vast, bold estate is one of London’s best examples of the style. An obvious destination for our creative and performing arts students, the Barbican is a hub for all major art forms including dance, film, music, theatre, and the visual arts. It offers student rates for most paying exhibitions and productions; entrance and some exhibitions are free.

A Grade II listed building, the Barbican is home to some jaw-droppingly cool apartments, so if you know anyone who lives here, pay them a visit as soon as possible. You can also go on a “New Perspectives” tour to find the hidden little nooks most visitors don’t see, which stops at the Lakeside Terrace, Sculpture Court, residential towers, and original London Wall ruins.

Check the Barbican website to find out what’s currently on.
