The International Foundation Programme in Computer Science & Technology is delivered on campus by Aberystwyth University and recruited globally in partnership with David Game College. The programme provides international students with a high-quality pathway into UK higher education.

This programme equips students with the academic skills, subject knowledge and confidence required to progress onto a wide range of undergraduate degree programmes within the Department of Computer Science.

Students benefit from approximately 20 hours of weekly contact time, delivered through a variety of teaching methods designed to support different learning styles. Seminars, tutorials, interactive learning, pair work, group tasks, discussions and presentations are used to help students develop the communication and analytical skills essential for university-level study in the UK.

Tutors value individual perspectives and encourage students to share their academic interests, allowing these to be integrated into the learning experience. Through the programme, students will:

  • use technical English confidently in both written and spoken computing contexts, including web-related terminology

  • create programmes using high-level programming languages such as Java or Python

  • experience undergraduate-level learning, building an understanding of key computer science concepts and topics including programming and web development

  • develop essential study skills in research, group work and communication

  • gain confidence in problem-solving, IT and independent learning skills, preparing for successful progression to undergraduate study
