Music Hub

Music is an enjoyable, fun subject, developing many skills that enrich the students’ lives and education. Studying an instrument can develop spatial intelligence, which is helpful for advanced mathematics, for example. They also learn the skill of memorisation; develop better hand-eye coordination; learn how to deal with emotions when studying different repertoire and how to cope with ‘performance’ anxiety. Working with fellow students in ensembles and choirs also develops the sense of community in the College.

The Music Hub was a venture by Emma Ventris and has been designed to complement the Music Department. In September 2018, Emma set up a Music Club at David Game and by January was leading the way, with the help of supportive staff from the College, in creating the David Game Music department. Since September 2019, the College has offered GCSE Music,  A-Level Music and A-Level Music Technology, with Music Technology, Contemporary Music and Ensemble clubs to compliment. Many students, whether studying music or not, have joined these clubs and enjoy taking part in the various performance opportunities throughout the academic year.

David Game currently has 3 music teachers (Music, Music Technology and Composition) and 16 peripatetic music teachers.

Instruments currently being offered are:

VIOLIN
