We are seeking to recruit Invigilators on a part-time and occasional basis.
David Game College is an independent school (student age range 14-22), which also accepts large numbers of external examination candidates with no age restriction. The school was founded in 1974, and was rated as “Outstanding” in all five categories by Ofsted in May 2017.
Experienced invigilators preferred, although we also encourage new invigilators to apply as full training will be given and we have many hours of work available in the in the May/June 2019 session. Examination Invigilators Job Description
Hours: Variable between 8.45 am and 5.30 pm.
Pay: £10.00 per hour
The invigilation team is required to work on an ad hoc basis throughout the year – predominantly November, January and May / June with some additional days throughout the year.
It is essential that you are able to commit to working in May and June, ideally but not necessarily on a daily basis. Invigilators are expected to commit to being available for at least 90% of each exam season.
The ideal candidates would have the following skills
• Calm under pressure,
• Good communication skills,
• Able to work as part of a team
• Punctuality and attention to detail
• Reasonable level of literacy and numeracy
• Computer literate
Duties: (not an exhaustive list)
• Understanding awarding body regulations (training will be given)
• Preparing exam rooms
• Active invigilating to ensure security of assessment and compliance with JCQ (Joint
Council for Qualifications) regulations, for both written and onscreen examinations
• Preparing papers for despatch
• Restoring rooms to pre exam state
• Working as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of all public examinations

Scope and responsibilities of the role
Teaching English GCSE in line with College policies and guidelines; knowledge of recent developments at GCSE and A level is highly desirable.
Applicant will need to be an enthusiastic and committed teacher who is aware of and sympathetic to the needs of 14 -19 year olds.
You should possess a good first degree in English; a PGCE or equivalent qualification is preferred.
This is a part time position with the possibility of becoming full time. The role includes teaching and administrative duties typical of any independent tutorial college. Timetabling is flexible at the start of the year so this is an ideal job if you have other commitments to fit around this work.
